“Green Hydrogen market opportunities are the biggest boost for offshore wind energy in India,” said Ranjeet Mene, Co-Founder, GTPI
He was delivering a presentation on ‘The Challenges and Opportunities of Offshore Wind Development in India – Lessons Learnt from Europe’ at The Littoral Offshore Wind Energy India – 2nd edition virtual seminar held on 8th September. Mr Mene focused on Indian Offshore Wind Energy market advantages and disadvantages.
While explaining the strength of Indian Offshore wind market Mr Mene found strong interest from local and International offshore wind developers & supply chain, well developed wind market, strong fabrication and maritime expertise and green hydrogen market opportunity as the best features of Indian market.
According to Mr Mene observations, medium wind speeds, long consenting/ admin timelines monsoon conditions risk, grid connection delays and cost expectations are the biggest challenges of Indian Offshore wind energy domain.
He elaborated the important role of local partner’s role in the offshore domain, community development, local job creation and awareness among the people about the offshore.
Mr Alok Kumar, Area Manager, Southeast Asia area- DNVGL Manager delivered an insightful presentation on ‘Indian Offshore Wind – Opportunity and Challenges’. He spoke about offshore wind outlook’s progress so far in India, overview of tariff and the opportunities and challenges.
Mr Kumar gave an elaborated outline of the offshore wind energy potential and activities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
Mr Raja Vaiz, Chairman, Littoral Communications welcomed the delegates and the speakers earlier; and Ms Surbhi Pal, Brand Manager, Littoral Communications proposed the vote of thanks.
