B COOL, a Danish company that specialises in refrigeration and HVAC systems, has produced a cooling system based on CO2. Marking the 20th anniversary of B COOL the innovative, patented system supports the wish of the shipping industry for a greener future.
“We are proud to mark our 20th anniversary by presenting our revolutionary CO2-based refrigeration system, designed for freighters, ferries and other vessels. The new system replaces existing systems that run on harmful hydrofluorocarbon gases. It reduces vessels’ consumption of black fuels, effectively converting consumption to electricity, because CO2 is an efficient coolant. This system is indeed the future for greener shipping,” says B COOL’s Managing Director Ejner Brodersen.
Cap: B COOL has produced a groundbreaking cooling system for ships and vessel based on CO2
B COOL have 20 years of experience with cooling and freezing units and HVAC systems on most types of vessels and other maritime installations. The new B COOL CO2 system was developed at the company’s test facilities in Aarhus, Denmark aiming to assist the maritime sector towards a green transition. The system equips shipping lines and the individual vessel for the future.
Maritime future
“Our CO2 system is a climate-friendly and durable solution. There will be no conversion or retrofit costs when new, more stringent regulations are introduced for the use of coolants. The new system consumes less energy – and therefore less oil – than a conventional system, which, for climate-related and financial reasons, makes it the right choice, as it has a positive effect on the shipping line’s green accounts,” explains Ejner Brodersen.
CO2 is thoroughly tested as a climate-friendly refrigerant in systems onshore. With the new system B COOL sets of on a green wave, and the first shipping companies are ready to install the CO2-based system.
“The feedback from the shipping companies is extremely positive. Our CO2-based system is climate-friendly, and it is built for those who insist on move forward making green choices. We believe that the maritime sector is ready to make that choice,” says Ejner Brodersen.
