The Hind Bhartiya Navik Sena Union (HBNSU) was formed in December 2021 and is backed by the right-wing Marathi regionalist and ultranationalist political party in India – Shiv Sena. HBNSU aims to spread the awareness of Merchant Navy as a career to rural India and encourage the young deserving candidates to join Merchant Navy. HBNSU will give proper career guidance and arrange to help candidates by all means including finance support. 

Mr Nilesh Paradkar who is popularly known as Appa in social and political circle is the brainchild of this union. HBNSU is also very lucky to have Mr Vinayak Raut, Secretary, Shiv Sena and Member of Parliament as its Chief Advisor.

Appa has many years of experience of running the unions such as Hind Bharatiya Kamgar Sena; Maharashtra State Mathadi and General Kamgar Sena; Cine Dancer’s Association and now Hind Bharatiya Navik Sena, which is the fourth similar organisation under his umbrella.

The core members of HBNSU are Mr Sumedh Sonavane, Working President; Mr Vijaybhai Gawai, General Secretary; and Mr Pritam Dandavate, Joint General Secretary. 

Mr Gawai has a vast experience in the same field of unions and he is a go-getter diplomat.

Mr Sonavane has 13 years of experience in shipping union field and Mr Dandavate has sailing experience as a Chief Officer and over 5 years of experience in shipping union. Both of them will be right and left hands of this organization. They have been working very hard to take this organisation to the next level and in such a short time they have brought to light one fraudulent case of pre joining medical and shortly the case will be reported and the matter will be taken up with DG and Shipping Master’s office and the relevant authorities. 

HBNSU has empanelled a senior Master Mariner Capt Nitin Pradhan who has vast experience of Manning, Shipping agency, Stevedoring and presently Ship Owning as their Marine advisor.

HBNSU’s strategic plan is to make their organization totally different and professional but they do not want to disclose their plans at this moment. But they claim that by the next anniversary the shipping fraternity will come to know.
