The 19th Kumar Gandharva Rashtriya Samman Samaroh held at Ravindra Natya Mandir on Saturday 22nd October was indeed an affair studded with luminaries of the classical music of India.
No less than Pandit Hariparsad Chauraisa, Padma Vibhushan and highly respected doyen of the Indian classical scene was present as the Chief Guest and honoured Padma Shri Pandit Suresh Talwalkar with not only his present but also with the Kumar Gandharva Rashtriya Samman 2022, which is recognition of the immense talent of its recipient.
Special invitees at the function were Shri Siddharth Kasyap, Music Director; Shri Sunder Chand Thakur, Editor, Nav Bharat Times; Capt Nazir Upadhye, Director, Sibarmar; and Capt Mohan Naik, Chairman, Dynacom Tanker Management Limited, and Dynagas Limited.
The evening also witnessed the wonderful performance of Ms Savani Talwalkar on the tabla and her solo rendition was much applauded and loved by the audience. Ameya Nitin Bichu was on the harmonium and his support of Savani was indeed remarkable.
Compere Smt Sandhya Deshmukh and Shri Anand Singh added all that is required to make the evening a grand success.
Pandit Hariparsad Chauraisa maybe now a very senior artist. However, it is heartening to see that age has not dulled his wit and his humor. The very loving and respectful fans thronged around him to have pictures taken and the evening saw a lot of memories made forever.
Such events bring out latent talent and also show society that classical music has a huge place in maintaining, developing, and changing our culture in positive ways.
