They jointly deliberated about futuristic training and welfare initiatives for the betterment of seafarers and their families.
NUSI has always been at the forefront in empowering women, particularly from the families of seafarers through their Naari Shakti initiative. Taking advantage of the visit from JSU & IMMAJ, and the upcoming International Women’s Day on 8th March; NUSI launched an initiative that gives financial support to Women Ratings titled – NUSI Stri Shakti Support.
Mr Toshihito Inoue, Chairman, IMMAJ and Mr Mitsuharu Matsuura San, President, JSU inaugurated NUSI Stri Shakti Support. Mr Kandalgaonkar said, “This NUSI Stri Shakti Support is a financial support initiative which will be granted to women who have successfully completed their pre-sea training course from DG approved maritime institute. The initiative will be for 15 women on first come first served basis as per guidelines.”
“We are confident that this initiative will further encourage women to join and pursue a career in the Merchant Navy.
And we would appreciate more seafarers and their families to take benefit of the various NUSI welfare and training initiatives,” concluded Mr Kandalgaonkar.
