19 HL – Mumbai Port marks National Safety Day with Launch of ‘Safety Zone’ Portal – KC

On the occasion of National Safety Day, Shri. Rajiv Jalota, Chairman MbPA, launched today the ‘Safety Zone’ portal on the intranet and internet website of MbPA. The portal ‘Safety Zone’ is the initiative by which employees & stakeholders of the Port can access all safety related information at a single point to facilitate accident prevention.

In his written message, Jalota, said, “I believe that the effort of the safety management cell to complete the safety resources and make them available to all through intranet & internet is a progressive step in educating and creating awareness towards safety in the organization.”

Shri Adesh Titarmare, Dy Chairman MbPA said, “It gives me immense pleasure to dedicate the ‘Safety Zone’ to all the stakeholders of Mumbai Port, developed by the safety management cell, which is making significant strides to achieve the ambitious goal to develop a very strong safety culture.”

National Safety Day is celebrated every year on March 4. The theme of National Safety Day this year is ‘Zero Harm’, emphasizing the need to reduce occupational damage down to zero.

In an effort to develop and sustain the movement of ‘SHE’ that focuses on Safety, Health, and the Environment at the national level, the Ministry of Labour, Government of India set up the National Safety Council of India (NSC) on 4 March, 1966.
