Tolani Maritime emerges as Runner up, AMET Chennai bags the Winners’ trophy

The NAVINAUTICS 2K23, a national level symposium organized by the cadets of AMET University, Chennai, concluded successfully with AMET University emerging as the overall champions of NAVINAUTICS 2K23, and Tolani Maritime Institute securing the runner-up position.
The event featured 15 exciting competitions with a total of 162 cadets from eight Maritime Training Institutes from across the nation, with the IMU Navi Mumbai taking in all of 27 medals, with 5 Golds and 22 Bronzes.
Speaking about the event, Capt Srinivas Gopal, AMET-U Principal of DGS Courses said, “Navinautics 2K23 fosters extraordinary seamanship skills in cadets through a competitive approach, helping them to develop their abilities in a challenging and rewarding manner.”
The theme of the event, “Marine Frontiers: Reflection of the Past, Visions of the Future,” aimed to highlight the valuable insights from past generations, who continue to serve as a guiding force for the present and future generations.
The two-day event beginning March 9, 2023, witnessed many a cadet demonstrating their seamanship and nautical skills through the following day as well, which then concluded with a valedictory function.
On day one the proceedings kicked off with a great inaugural function in the presence of Chief Guest Capt. Lalith Kumar L. A., Master Mariner, LLB (Admiralty & Maritime), Attorney and Solicitor, Bar Council of India Member; Guest of Honour Capt. Arvind Shankar, the Cultural and Capability Manager at Maersk; Honourable Vice Chancellor Col. Dr. G. Thiruvasagam; Dr. Deepa Rajesh Director HRDC; and Capt. Srinivas Gopal Principal of DGs Courses.
While the Novus project showcased innovations by the cadets benefiting the shipping industry, the nautical quiz was the wonderful thing to happen. However the ‘Tug of oars’ was the highlight of NAVINAUTICS 2K23 that demonstrated the physical strength, coordination, and endurance of the participants.
The valedictory function was graced with the presence of Capt. James Richards, Senior Manager of Training at Fleet Management Ltd; Capt. Sundeep Inkruthy, CEO of NYL Technology; Registrar Mr. M Jayaprakashvel; and The Principal of DGs Courses Capt. Srinivas Gopal.
The ceremony culminated with the distribution of prizes to the winners and runners-up, with AMET University emerging as the overall champions of NAVINAUTICS 2K23, and Tolani Maritime Institute securing the runner-up position.
Overall, the event was a great success and showcased the potential of the cadets to rise to their best in enterprising events.
