MANET Endeavors to Strengthen ties with Industry

MANET Pune, popularly known as Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training, was founded in 2001 and is an ISO 9001:2015 accredited Pre-sea MTI offering undergraduate programme that provides cadets with top-notch training to become future Maritime Officers. Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Government of India has acknowledged MANET as an MTI. By MASSA & FOSMA, it is the industry-preferred Institute.  The MLIT, Government of Japan, has authorized MANET as a Maritime Training Institute.

A ship in campus, a sports complex with an Olympic-level pool, specific value-added courses, and the professional grooming of cadets by the MIT School of Corporate Innovation and Leadership, or SCIL, are what distinguish MANET from other MTIs. With the help of both external and internal experts, SCIL offers thorough training in soft skills, behavioral skills, employability skills, aptitude training, and specially curated company-based technical trainings.

In order to place as many as possible qualified graduates of the B. Tech. in Marine Engineering and B.Sc. in Nautical Science programmes, MANET has its own dedicated Training and Placement Cell that works with reputable shipping firms. MANET recruiters are some of the top names in the shipping industry. Cadets graduated from both the streams B. Tech. Marine Engineering and B.Sc. Nautical Science are presently sailing in reputed foreign and Indian shipping companies. Most of the esteemed shipping companies approach MANET for recruitment processes from the second year onwards. Several cadets from MANET also hold responsible positions ashore in the shipping Industry. The outcomes of hiring our cadets have delighted shipping businesses, who keep coming to MANET.

To discuss, learn, and reinvent better techniques to create a better tomorrow, MANET has created a new chapter of the Regulator- Industry- Academia Meet, called “MANET-Milieu”. Beginning in 2022, it has been in effect. According to MANET, industry-academia alliances are essential for learning exchange, establishing shared expectations, and improving the caliber of efforts made to develop a competent workforce.

The goal of MANET-Milieu is to reach out to the marine industry and decision-makers to establish a working relationship so that MANET can keep each other informed of developments and needs so that we can better meet expectations, work together, and cooperate.

The MANET-MILIEU was held in Radisson Blu Mumbai in 2022 and received a positive reaction from the shipping industry representatives. MILIEU was held in the month of March this year. The presence of Hon’ble Shripad Naik, Minister of Shipping, Tourism & Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Mr Amitabh Kumar (IRS), Former DG Shipping, Govt of India, and industry stalwarts like Capt Prabhat Nigam, VP (Maritime) & Principal – School of Maritime Studies, Chitkara University, Punjab, Capt (Dr) Shashank Jahagirdar, and Prof. Dr Mangesh Karad, Executive President and Vice Chancellor, MIT-ADT University, Pune made this meet extra special for MANET. MILIEU-2023 was attended by approximately 175 industry representatives from Indian and foreign marine companies.

As a leading and most preferred MTI for girl cadets, MANET has hosted an event named “International Maritime Women Empowerment Conference and awards 2023” organized by Marex Media. The event was organized on the occasion of International day for women seafarer. Maritime Gender Equality was the event’s topic. By establishing connections between MANET and industrial fraternities, these events assist MANET in moulding cadets in accordance with industry standards.
