The Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai in collaboration with the Department of Transport, United Kingdom, is conducting a first of its kind four-day workshop on Maritime Security.
Stalwarts from India and the UK with their respective domain expertise will address the joint workshop from 31st July to 03rd August at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai.
The workshop will explore crises management arising from maritime security incidents.
Speaking about the meet, Capt Anish Joseph, Dy. Nautical Advisor, DG Shipping, said, “The objective of the proposed workshop is to empower the Indian Maritime professionals with knowledge on Maritime Security, with a special focus on Crisis Management for better understanding of the sensitivity of the issues involved, and respond accordingly to such incidents in case they occur.”
Considering the increase in Maritime Security threats worldwide, the workshop will be a value addition to the stakeholders, and will be delivered by a mix of Indian and UK Subject Experts including the Department of Transport, UK, the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Indian Information Fusion Centre: Indian Ocean Region; Directorate General of Shipping, etc.
Participation is expected (Physical/ Online) from all segments of MOPSW/DGS, Port Authority/ Port Facility Security Officers, Company/ Ship Security Officers, Coastal State Administrations/ Marine Police, Fire services / Ambulance services, etc.
