The 10th edition of Samudra Manthan Awards 2023 with its theme – ‘Amrit kaal mein Jal Parivahan’, were recently held in Mumbai, on Wednesday, 8th November felicitating the best professional among the maritime industry for the year.

Chief Guest of the event was Vice Admiral, Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command, while dignitaries Shri Sanjay Bhatia, (I.A.S Retd.), Upa-lokayukta Maharashtra & former Chairman MbPA; Shri Amitabh Kumar, (I.A.S Retd.), Former D G Shipping; Shri Shyam Jagannathan I.A.S., DG Shipping; Shri Rajiv Jalota, I.A.S, Chairman MbPA; Shri Ashish Pednekar Chairman MACCIA Trust Board; MD, GVP Forwarders Pvt Ltd, Admiral Tripathi; and Capt Vivek Bhandarkar, CEO Bhandarkar Publications, inaugurated the occasion with lighting of diyas for the event ceremony.

The evening witnessed a ceremonial event with much fun and frolic, along with the Maritime Odyssey by Aditi Deshpande, followed by a Book release, ‘Basics of electronic aids for surface navigation’, written by Dr G Chandra & Senthil kumar, and thereafter some mellifluous instrumental music that entertained the attendees to the core.

The event was attended by several eminent personalities from the shipping fraternity.

The Samudra Manthan Awards honour the best in the Indian Maritime Fraternity through a meticulous selection process conducted by an eminent jury. Since 2009, Bhandarkar Publications Group has been awarding champions in 14 different categories of shipping.

To name some; while the Samudra Manthan Jury Award was presented to Prof Dr Mangesh Karad, Executive President, & VC MANET, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Capt Avinash Batra, Chairman, Seahorse Ship Agencies Pvt Ltd., and Hon Consul General of Republic of Latvia. Also, the prestigious JNPA Anna Malhotra Award was presented to Dr Malini Shankar, Vice Chancellor Indian Maritime University.
