3 Training Streams Passout Simultaneously from AEMA

The passing out & prize distribution function for three batches of the Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) was held on Saturday, January 06, 2024, at their Academy campus at Karjat. The academy announced almost 100 percent results for its three batches: DNS 27, ETO 14 and GME 39, which saw over 160 students passing out with an average score of 80 percent. The event was graced by dignitaries, guests, academics, the enthusiastic cadets, and their thrilled parents.

The Chief Guest for the day was Honourable Shri Shyam Jagannathan, DG Shipping, Govt. of India, Guest of Honour was Shri J Orson Lobo, Senior MD, A-E Ship Management Ltd., Singapore.

Addressing the passing out cadets, Shri Shyam Jagannathan wished them luck in all their endeavors. Further, advising them on their professional conduct to maintain safety and wellness throughout their lifetimes he suggested they always remember their alma mater. He said, “Congratulations to all the successful cadets. While sailing on board always remember to follow safety first and maintain overall wellbeing. Be focused. Continuous Professional Up-skilling is the mantra ahead for you all.”

Members from the Anglo-Eastern group gracing the event included Capt K. N. Deboo, Director, Anglo Eastern Maritime Training Centre, Mumbai; Captain Suneel Sule, Principal, AEMA; Capt. Santosh Pandey HOD (Nautical) AEMA; Mr Tejinder Bhamra, Vice Principal & GME course in-charge; along with faculty and AEMA staff.

The day began with a formal Guard of Honor and unfurling of Anglo-Eastern Flag by the Chief Guest, followed by a tour of the Academic Blocks & Project Displays. The dignitaries were highly impressed with the infrastructure at the AEMA campus and wished well to all the students for a bright future, with a few words of discretion too.

Captain Sule welcomed everyone at the function, with his special gratitude to Shri Jagannathan and Shri Lobo for finding time from their extremely busy schedules.

Describing the passing out of three batches together as a first of its kind at the institution, he wished luck to the young cadets.

Setting the tone for the day, Capt. Sule with his daily ‘dose of philosophy’ to the passing out students categorically stated, “Competition is the way of the jungle, co-operation is the way of life in a civilized society.”

“Anglo-Eastern leads by doing the right things the right way. We enable everyone to perform at their best, while challenging ourselves to responsibly shape the industry and make a positive impact in our communities.”

Capt. Santosh Pandey, HOD – Nautical, spoke about the DNS 27 that had 80 students, the batch starting date being 08 February 2023. The batch had undergone holistic training in the classrooms and on the fields of play and knowledge.

Mr. Yogesh Chonkar, ETO Course-In-Charge informed about the ETO Batch that had commenced on 20 September ’23. The batch had 40 students, categorized in five groups of 8 students, with regular sessions of training modules, with all 40 cadets passing the final exam.

Vice Principal Mr Tejinder Bhamra informed about the batch GME 39, a course started on 01 May 2023 with a batch strength of 40 cadets.

The students were also addressed by stalwarts, Capt Deboo and Mr Lobo, advising them to maintain the one-up level in their professional careers throughout.

The program then transitioned to the prize distribution function. Cadet Adithyan K R, and Durga Prasad Inakoti were named as the “Best Overall Cadet” of DNS 27 and ETO 14” respectively. In the category of “Topper in Academics” Cadets Ketan Sawant (DNS 27) and Mohd. Washid (ETO 14) were awarded. For GME 39, there was a combined prize of “Overall Best Cadet and Academic Topper” and it was present to Cadet Aman Katiyar.

This segment also saw the presentation of the prestigious IMO Mock Session shield to the prize winners. AEMA bagged a Total of four prizes at the 3rd edition of the IMO mock session competition on 09 Nov 2023, including two winners rolling shields and one runner-up award. This was in continuation to the winner rolling shield in its 2nd edition in the year 2022.

The AEMA campus is located about 70 Kms South West of Mumbai, amidst the verdant hills of the Sahyadhri ranges that run parallel to the west coast of peninsular India.
