AEMA’s DNS Batch-26 Notches up a 100% Passing

The passing out & prize distribution function of the Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) DNS batch-26 was held on Thursday June 22, 2023, at their Academy campus at Karjat. The academy saw its batch of 160 students pass out with a 100 percent record. The event was graced by dignitaries, guests, academics, cadets and their parents.

While the Chief Guest for the day was Shri Rajeev Jalota, IAS, Chairman Mumbai Port Authority, Chairman Indian Ports Association, & DG Shipping, Govt of India; The Guest of Honour was Capt R Janardhanan, Director QHSE, A-E Ship Management Ltd., Singapore.

Apart from these, members from the Anglo-Eastern group graced the event, including Capt Pradeep Chawla, MD Group QHSE & Training, AESM, Hongkong; Capt Alok Sharma, Group Director,  QHSE & Training, AESM Hongkong; Captain Suneel Sule, Principal, AEMA;  and Capt. K.N. Deboo, Director & Principal, AEMTC (Mumbai), along with faculty and AEMA staff.

The day began with a formal Guard of Honor and flag hoisting by the Chief guest and Guest of Honour, followed by a tour of the Academic Blocks & Project Displays. The dignitaries were highly impressed with the infrastructure at the AEMA campus and wished luck to all the students for a bright future, with a few words of caution too.

Earlier in his welcome address Captain Sule welcomed everyone at the function, acknowledging his special gratitude to Shri Jalota and Capt Janardhanan for finding time from their extremely busy schedules.

Describing the batch-26 as a ‘Gold Haul batch’, as this batch had received a maximum of awards, including the best Pre-sea Training Academy In India Award, followed by  the Best Gender Sensitization Diversity & Equity Award, Captain Sule maintained that the human brain is wired for many a functions and we are yet to explore many of these. He said that by following their vision to educate and train to the highest standards in the maritime industry, we ensure to make learning enjoyable and effective in the workplace.

Capt. Santosh Pandey, HOD – Nautical, spoke about the DNS batch 26, which started on 01st Sep 2022 with a batch strength of 160 cadets, divided into four divisions, and securing a 100% result on completion.

The students were also addressed by stalwarts, Capt Chawla and Capt Alok Sharma, both advising students to maintain the one-up level in their professional careers throughout.

AEMA, along with many other courses, conducts the one-year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), a pre-sea training course approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), and affiliated to the Indian Maritime University (IMU). Upon successful completion of the course, cadets are awarded the pre-sea completion certificate and are then qualified to join ships as deck cadets.

AEMA currently offers 2 DNS batches annually i.e. in February (120 seats) & August (160 seats).
