Capt. Tushar Raghunath Pradhan, a sailing master and resident of Mumbai, has won the prestigious post of General Secretary to The Maritime Union of India (MUI).

Some of the key promises of Pradhan’s election manifesto include –
• Dedicated desks in the MUI offices for the renewal of Passports, CDC, CoCs, DCEs, and GMDSS, and certifications, all free of cost for MUI members, who would only pay the government charges for renewal.
• A dedicated team in all MUI offices to assist in booking STCW and non-STCW courses, to solve the hassles of renewal, without any processing fee to be charged.
• He has promised dedicated desks for vaccination for all members along with fast remittance of Mediclaim.
• Setting up desks for assisting in visa facilitation for MUI members and their families, through liaison with various consulates and embassies.
• The manifesto also speaks of the health care facilities for elderly members at their residence.

The Maritime Union of India was established in 1939 and represents Merchant Navy Officers who are its members. MUI is in affiliation with the International Transportation Federation (ITF) of London and the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), which represents a very large section of workers from various industries in India. The Union is also represented on many Government and semi-government boards.
