Bids Farewell to Its Batch of 2020
Ever wondered what makes a university unique, respected and one among the top? It’s not just the acres occupied by the university, or the number of times its advertisements makes an appearance in the media.
There are certain factors that one cannot ignore. It’s not only the Academic programs on offer, cutting-edge and industry-demand specializations, motivated and well-updated faculty, freedom and leadership of thought & action, and good value for money; but also an institution that takes into account the financially weak but deserving students, state-of-the-art infrastructure, decent hostel facilities for its students that offer healthy choices in food and snacks, and recognition and affiliation that help the students find better job opportunities.
Throw in a whole lot of sports activities and you’re looking at the Chitkara University School of Maritime Studies, located in the midst of the vast verdant tracts of Punjab.
At this very campus of repute was held the passing out ceremony on 28th July 2023, of its beloved B.Sc. NS cadets of Year 2020.
The event was graced by some well renowned head honchos of the industry such as Capt. Mohan Naik (Director, Dynacom Group), Capt. Kaustubh Pradhan (General Manager, Elite Mariners Pvt Ltd.), Capt. Manmohanjeet (Fleet Management) and Capt. Kamal Chadha (MD, Marex Media).
The event began with a smart parade of the cadets in bright whites that displayed months of disciplined practice. This was followed by a brief report of the passing out youngsters spanning three years of hard study and hands-on work.
Chief Cadet Captain Arun Sharma was declared as the “Overall Best Cadet” and also the TOPPER of his batch. Cadet Captain Lalit Gautam was “Second-Best in Academics” and Senior Cadet Captain Sai Srimann was announced as “Best in Sports and Co- curricular Activities”.
Capt. Prabhat Nigam (Vice-President-Maritime, Chitkara University) conducted the Investiture Ceremony wherein rank holders from the following batches took over responsibilities from the passing out batch.
The 4th Edition of the content-laden gleaming newsletter “Samudra Manthan” was also released.
The event continued into entertaining cultural activities like an interesting skit, an energetic performance by C2S2, and the enthralling Bhangra by the cadets.
Overall, the day proved to be bittersweet—filled with both pride and nostalgia—as the entire CUSMS body gathered to bid farewell to a remarkable group of young persons who although will now proceed to take training aboard ships at sea, their integration in to the CUSMS family will continue for all times to come.
