Pace Panthers & Elegant Strikers Lift Cups

An exhilarating Tournament was held by CMMI-NM (The Company of Master Mariner of India- Navi Mumbai) on Sunday, the 12th Feb 2023 at Nerul Gymkhana Football Turf, Navi Mumbai. A total of six teams participated that included two women’s team and four men’s teams.

The Women’s teams were titled MSC Legends and Elegant Strikers, whereas the Men’s team were the KN Oceans, Synergy Super, Aryamann RC and Pace Panthers. The teams were owned by various shipping companies and individuals and comprised of Master mariners and their spouses.

The tournament kicked off post the draw ceremony with the traditional ribbon cutting. The enthusiastic players swarmed in a huddle at the turf in their team jerseys and the desire to win was visible all round in their limbering exercises.

The first match began between the teams Pace Panthers and KN Ocean at 4:30 p.m. with spectators keen to witness the footballing spectacle. Pace Panthers paved their way into the finals by a great show of skills and determination.

The next match between Synergy Supers and Aryamann RC at 5 p.m. saw Aryamann RC prevail and move towards the finals. The match between Synergy Super and KN Oceans for the 3^rd position was even more thrilling as both teams gave a tough fight. The match ended all square. The deadlock was broken by a penalty shoot-out, won by team Synergy Super who thus ended up in 3^rd position.

The women’s match between MSC Legends and Elegant Strikers that began at 5.30 pm was a delight to watch, and it saw the Elegant Strikers winning the keenly contested encounter.

The final showdown of the CMMI-Navi Mumbai football tournament began at 18:25 pm with the commanding whistle of the referee, where team Pace Panther and Aryamann RC fought it out for the top prize in a nail biting and epic encounter, which will remain for long in the hearts and minds of the cheering supporters.

The Pace Panthers were crowned winners of the tournament.

After the tournament ended, everyone moved to the Amphitheatre for the prize distribution ceremony, where all players were felicitated with medals. The event was followed by cocktails and dinner.

The winning and losing teams discussed special highlights of the match and it could be clearly seen that sportsmanship spirit is always more respected than the win.
