Enthusiasm & fanfare at Chitkara NMD Celebrations

This 05th April, Chitkara University School of Maritime Studies (CUSMS) celebrated National Maritime Day (NMD) with lots of enthusiasm and fanfare at their campus in Chandigarh.

Gracing the occasion were Mr Rajeev Arora, IAS (Retd) Dr Ashok K Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University; Mr Jagmeet Makkar, Chairman, ICS – Hong Kong; and Capt Arjun Singh Kalra, Chairman, CMMI – Chandigarh Chapter. The Chief Guest, Mr Arora was welcomed with a guard of honor that was followed by a Swimming Regale wherein several competitions were held for the students.

Capt Prabhat Nigam, Vice President – Maritime, warmly welcomed and addressed the guests and dignitaries about the recent progress made in the shipping sector. He elucidated on the theme ‘Amrit Kaal in Shipping’.

In the investiture ceremony, Capt Nigam announced the new rank holders namely: Cdt Arun Sharma as Senior Cadet Captain, Cdt Lalit Gautam and Cdt Sai Srimann Sah as Cadet Captains; Cdt. Abhiraj Singh Pal, Cdt. Harsh K. Gautam, Cdt. Aniket Jindal, Cdt. Rajat Goyal, Cdt. Tusshar Deep, Cdt. Yashvardhan Tiwari, Cdt. Vishal and Cdt. Lovedeep Singh were all declared Cadet Leaders. The proud parents put stars on their wards uniforms and expressed their delight at their achievements.

The Newsletter 2023, Edition -3 was released by Mr Arora, Dr Chitkara, Capt Nigam, Mrs Meeta Nigam, Dr Gulshan Dhillon, and Ms Simranpreet Kaur.

The audience were kept deeply engaged with various cultural events such as melodious singing by cadets and faculty, amusing and entertaining skit with a deep message, and an energetic Bhangra performance.

The fanfare culminated with a Tree Plantation by all the dignitaries.
