Journey of Cadet at MANET

The international shipping industry carries about 90% of global trade. Without shipping, it would be impossible to import and export affordable food and manufactured commodities as well as bulk transit of raw resources. Every kind of cargo is transported by more than 50,000 merchant ships that trade internationally. Nearly 2 million sailors make up the world fleet, which has registrations in more than 150 countries. For both domestic and international shipping, India has consistently supplied top-notch seafarers. India is regarded as a trustworthy and significant source of mariner on a global scale.

Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training (MANET) has consistently helped its students acquire high-quality knowledge and abilities, preparing them to become tomorrow’s adaptable, responsible, physically suitable and knowledgeable seafarers. MANET has been delivering high-quality education for the last 22 years, helping to supply seafarers for both domestic and international shipping. Since its founding, MANET has contributed nearly 3000+ skilled sailors.

To turn pupils into cadets, then successful mariners, is the ongoing goal of MANET. In MANET, cadets acquire all the traits that mariners have. One of the most crucial traits every cadet should have is Adaptability. In general, it entails remaining true to yourself while consciously changing a few things to accommodate. MANET ecology is supported by a variety of cadets from many states and cultures. They remain grouped together in one location, engage in conversation, work together to find a solution, and then adapt to the situation, which usually helps them to become more redundant.

Punctuality to become responsible seafarer is a key quality because seafarers must be on time all the time and keep watch of every second. Both academic and recreational activities fill a day. Our cadets learn discipline and responsibility by following a suitable schedule throughout the day. All cadets are expected to get military haircuts after joining in MANET, which may seem needless at the time but helps all cadets feel equal and united because they all wear the same uniform, shoes, and haircut.

Here, the shirt is transformed into a white uniform with an epaulette, the boot into a pair of black shoes, and the chic hairstyle into the military style of hair. Cadets often awaken between 0530 hrs and 0600 hrs, at which point they must prepare for their daily duties. It includes activities like swimming, exercise, sports, parades, marching, and the gym. By 0715 hrs morning

activities are finished. Cadets are required to come to the muster ground at 0840 hrs for their morning muster in their uniforms, where the duty wardens take their attendance. If any cadet arrives late or is improperly dressed will receive the appropriate punishment because appearance and punctuality are seen as fundamental characteristics that must be instilled in cadets. All cadets report to their respective classes for the morning lectures, which begin at 0900 hrs, after completing the morning muster. Cadets are required to consistently be on time and diligent.

Physical endurance is key personality trait for every seafarer, MANET always work to ensure that cadets develop both intellectually and physically which is very important quality of seafarer. In view to get Holistic Personality, MANET gives equal importance to sports. The sports complex at MANET spans 40 acres of area. Cadets are divided into four houses, namely Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Hind, in order to promote better sportsmanship and rivalry among the students. Volleyball, Basketball and lawn tennis courts, football and cricket pitches, Olympic-size swimming pool, rowing station, kabaddi field, jogging tracks and an indoor sports hall with areas for yoga, table tennis, carom, chess, badminton and a fully equipped gym with a boxing ring. Inter-house as well as Inter-college competitions in a variety of sports including boxing, cricket, football, volleyball, chess, carom, table tennis, and lawn tennis facilities are provided on campus for our cadets.

To be a knowledgeable seafarer MANET focuses on providing cadets with practical training and the best industrial expert instructors to share their real-life sailing experiences with cadets. MANET has well equipped laboratories and simulators for better learning. The curriculum is modified frequently to reflect the changing needs of the shipping industry. Our Cadets benefit from having a ship-in-campus because they can visibly understand the actual ship equipment’s.

MANET provide additional Officer-like Qualities (OLQ) classes to prepare cadets for this vocation by teaching them professional skills and etiquette as well as enhancing their mind-set. The School of Corporate Innovation and Leadership (SCIL) equips cadets with the corporate and life skills they’ll need as they advance in their careers, enabling them to operate on ships with greater diligence and effectiveness.

MANET prepares cadets for all challenges they will encounter on the job.

Thus, MANET cadets adhere to this schedule, which develops them into competent mariners with the physical and mental skills necessary for the future.
