Prof Dr Mangesh Karad, Executive President & Vice Chancellor of University is highly passionate about MANET and its timely transformation as per need.

Prof Dr Karad’s vision of holistic and inclusive development has been successful in raising the international standards of education in all spheres and elevating the standard of education in Pune, which is reflected through MIT ADT University progress and achievements.

Being an educationist with keen interest in specialized engineering niches, Prof Dr Karad has introduced specialized courses like B. Tech. Marine for Engineering, BSc Nautical Science for deck cadets in order to contribute to Maritime industry in 2001.

During the pandemic, Prof Dr Karad was successful in quickly arranging the infrastructure to setup online classes for the students, so that their career is not at stake and learning continues. With experienced faculties and online infrastructure availability, MANET adopted the required changes in shortest span of time. Online examinations were carried out with the help of Proctored examination. The faculties were up-skilled and proper training was provided so that they could take online classes and help students to tide away in the Pandemic.

MANET is a constituent unit of MIT Art, Design & Technology University Pune. The entire team of MANET is committed to impart excellent training to cadets. MANET admits 200 cadets in B. Tech. Marine Engineering & 120 cadets in BSc Nautical Science courses every year. MANET is equipped with Engine Simulator & 180° Bridge Simulator, and well-furnished hostel with 1200 capacity. Standing strong for the past 20 years, MANET has a track record of providing 85% average Placement. In a short span of time, MANET has emerged its own position into maritime industry.

Prof Dr Karad’s constant efforts are in the promotion of education as a Vice President of Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI), South – East region. His persistent efforts are towards recognition of MIT among world – class educational institutions. He has created an ecosystem where optimum quality of theoretical knowledge is clubbed with hands on practical experience, thereby adding value to society by developing the future of the nation.
