The 3rd Annual General Meeting of the Maritime Trainers Guild (MTG) was held on 29th September at MSC House, Mumbai. Present on the occasion were Captain Prabhat Nigam, President MTG, Gen Secy Capt Kamal Chadha, Mr. S M Rai, Maritime Advisor and Consultant, Captain M.K Bhasin, Managing Director at MSC Crewing Services, and general body members from across India. The general body members included corporate members, founder members, and life members of MTG.

Captain Prabhat Nigam, elaborating on the AGM said, “This was our third AGM, earlier two were held during the pandemic, and this time we decided to make it hybrid for greater participation of general body members from across India and abroad. The main aim was to consolidate what we have done in the past and take approval from the general body on what needs to be done, and we were quite successful in both. Mostly all the things which were proposed were seconded and passed.”

Highlighting the plans of expansion, Nigam added, “We decided to become more decentralized and offer events to our cardinal heads i.e., North, South, East, and West India. There have been changes in cardinal heads, and for west India it is Captain Viraf Chichgar and for North India, it is Ms. Naomi Rewari. Rest two are continuing in South India Mr. Sanjeev Vakil and in East India Captain Nalin Pandey. Dr. Gulshan Dhillon has been formalized as MTG Manager, while earlier she was working as an MTG coordinator.”

Commenting on the proceedings of the AGM, Mr. SM Rai, said, “The AGM was held offline this year, post the pandemic. Although the physical attendance was not as per our expectation, there was major participation of members online. It was interesting to see that people who are not in Mumbai could also take an active part in the proceedings. We had good interesting suggestions on MTG to not just limit it only to training and teaching but widen its horizons. I’m sure MTG will soon grow from strength to strength to make its presence felt in the maritime industry.”

Captain Bhasin said, “My heartfelt congratulations to MTG for the successful conduct of the AGM today. I wish the new members and all the members of MTG great success in their endeavors in the coming years.”
