Seaspan launches ‘The Seaspan Galley’

Eating a nutritious diet is essential for good health. Complementing this thought and ensuring that the seafarers onboard the Seaspan fleet are healthy and enjoying scrumptious meals, Seaspan launched The Seaspan Galley on Monday, 27th March at the swanky ITC Grand Maratha Hotel in Mumbai.

The book was launched by Mr Torsten Holst Pedersen, COO of Seaspan Corporation; Capt RK Muduli, Principal Officer (Nautical) cum Joint Director General (Technical) in the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), and Mr Deepak Shetty, IRS, Former Director General of Shipping.

Capt Dinesh Jairam, Global Talent Acquisition Manager, Seaspan Crew Management India Private Limited, warmly welcomed the august gathering. He apprised that Seaspan’s Chief Cooks are responsible for feeding approximately 2,700 active seafarers per day. “The mental health and wellbeing of our seafarers is of utmost importance. As part of our Wellness at Sea initiative, Seaspan has partnered with Chef Patrick Alban, a culinary consultant from Tel Aviv, Israel to share his knowledge and support our Chief Cooks onboard,” articulated Capt Jairam.

“Our Chief Cooks plays a very vital role in bringing everybody together around their meals, and building the support system and team spirit that is central to the mental and physical wellbeing at sea, which is a core part of our Seaspan culture.”

Expressed Mr Pedersen, “We created this cookbook to provide a little glimpse into life as a Seaspan seafarer and to celebrate our cooks and the teams at sea, whose focus and dedicated work has built and maintained Seaspan’s leading position in the maritime world.”

“This collection is just a small representation of the many great meals that are shared every day onboard our Seaspan fleet.

“We hope you enjoy and take some time out to connect with your own community through these inspired recipes brought to you from across the globe,” concluded Mr Pedersen.
