Seafarers Club Launched

On 25^th June, Mr Shripad Naik, Honourable Minister of State Ports, Waterways & Shipping inaugurated Seafarers Club at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Navi Mumbai.

The Club will facilitate various facilities for the welfare of seafarers which include Food & Beverages, Spa and Saloon, Sports & Recreation, and Currency counter to name a few. The Club has been awarded to Akhil Bhartiya Navik Sangh (ABNS) for the Operation and Maintenance.  Honourable Minister Mr Naik and Mr Unmesh Wagh, Deputy Chairman, JNPA officially handed over the key of the Club to Mr Suhas Mate, President, & Mr Minanath Jagade, General Secretary, ABNS.

Mr Wagh wished all the seafarers and expressed that the seafarers are the heart of the shipping community and JNPA and its management is committed to provide the best facilities to the seafarers at the port. He also assured that JNPA will shortly shift this Club to a larger premises, which will provide state-of-the-art facilities matching international standards.

In his address, Mr Naik appreciated the entire team of ABNS for providing welfare activities to the seafarers. He also expressed that more ports should come out with such facilities for the benefit of the seafarers. He further stated that the Government of India will encourage Make In India policy for the betterment and promotion of the Indian Shipping Industry.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Ashish Shelar, MLA BJP who is also the Chief Advisor of ABNS, expressed his pleasure on the opening of the Club.

Also present at the launch were top management of JNPA and large number of seafarers, who gave the Guard of Honour to the Honourable Minister.

ABNS members felicitated various seafarers who have provided their life for the service to the Indian Shipping Industry. The seafarers were presented a memento as a token of their valuable contribution to the Indian Shipping Industry by the Honourable Minister.

Mr Mate proposed the vote of thanks and wished all Happy International Day of the Seafarers.
