CMMI Chandigarh Annual Dinner Meet

Chandigarh was first conceptualized in 1948 as the capital of Punjab and was founded in 1952. Later, due to trifurcation of Punjab in 1966, i.e., creation of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh also became the capital of Haryana, and around the same time it was declared as a union territory.

The core idea was to make Chandigarh a role model of sorts and, wow, were the planners able to achieve that! No surprise then that she is called “The city beautiful”. Such an example she set that Punjab and Haryana were also enraptured by her design, character, infrastructure and potential, and followed suit, wherein Mohali (SAS Nagar) and Panchkula were developed in her wake. Today, Chandigarh is in her full resplendence and made its population proud of their heritage. Aka, with Mohali and Panchkula in the tow.

Then, it’s no wonder that it was destined to become a service center for the shipping community residing in North India, and catering to their needs.

Also, given the number of seafarers, and master mariners of the region, the stalwarts envisioned the synergy and potential and founded CMMI Chandigarh in 2011, to carry forward the principles and objectives of CMMI India.

Today, the Tricity is proud to house RPSL recruitment companies, DG approved medical centers, DG approved marine academies, and Class approved marine software companies, Merchant Navy Officers association, NI NW chapter, IMEI chapter, and CMMI chapter. The city is abuzz with marine related activity, flourishing businesses, and justifiably so, being blessed by “Chandi – the Goddess of Power”.

CMMI Chandigarh has since its inception hosted successfully a number of seminars, webinars, maritime day events, annual get-togethers, independently and sometimes in collaboration with other maritime groups. The intent being purely to make the audience aware of the potential available, make them aware of new technology and changes happening in the industry, create a platform for inter-action between the stakeholders who may mutually benefit each other, to enhance the existing harmonious atmosphere and at the least but not the last extend support to a needy party.

To this end, CMMI Chandigarh recognizes, acknowledges, felicitates and congratulates all the stake- holders for their dedication and hard work they have put into their respective projects .This occasion Capt GS Ghuman (past-Chairman), and Capt K S Sujlana (past-Chairman) were felicitated for their contribution and service to the industry . CMMI Chandigarh Chapter wishes them well and holds them in highest regard.

CMMI Chandigarh enjoys the support and goodwill from within and without the industry, and it extends its deep gratitude to all the concerning parties, more specifically, to AuBank Chandigarh, Fleet Management Ltd, Executive Ship Management, Ocean One Ship Management, Marex, Elite Mariners , and 49 Web Street .

This annual dinner was hosted as a token of appreciation to celebrate the unrelenting service to the society by the mariners on shore and off-shore, the synergy and the maritime climate of the region. CMMI Chandigarh Chapter wishes all the seafarers a very happy, healthy, and a prosperous 2024.
